(Scypre.com) – Officials in Washington state found two bodies on a military base, and they think it’s Davido and Karen Koep, a local couple missing since last month.
The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office said, “Sadly, we believe Davido and Karen Koep have been located based on the preliminary investigation.” The couple, aged 68 and 62, were last seen on Nov. 10. Deputies checked their home on Nov. 13 and suspected an attack.
A suspect in his 40s, known to the couple, was arrested last month for first-degree murder and kidnapping. He allegedly killed them when facing eviction from a home he rented from them.
Although the bodies haven’t been confirmed as the Koeps, Sheriff Derek Sanders is “reasonably certain.” The coroner’s office is working on identification and cause of death.
The bodies were found on Joint Base Lewis-McChord’s property after a 911 call. The suspect lived nearby, and the bodies were less than half a mile away. Sanders said they weren’t hidden.
Sheriff Sanders hopes this helps the families find closure. The couple’s son, Justice Dutton, thanked law enforcement for their dedication, saying, “We have the utmost faith that the Thurston County Prosecuting Attorneys will bring the person(s) responsible to justice.”
