Israel Bombs Gaza Hospital After Ceasefire Collapses

(Scypre.com) – The Israeli military has intensified its air campaign across the Gaza Strip, marking a significant escalation following the breakdown of a temporary ceasefire. Over the past 24 hours, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported targeting approximately 35 sites, including weapons manufacturing facilities, rocket launch sites, and tunnel networks associated with Hamas.

One of the most notable incidents occurred with a predawn airstrike on Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City. The hospital, operated by the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem, suffered extensive damage, leading to its temporary closure. While the IDF stated the hospital was being used as a Hamas command center, Hamas officials denied these allegations.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate. With over 50,900 Palestinian deaths reported since the onset of the conflict in October 2023, the recent airstrikes have further strained the region’s already fragile infrastructure.

International reactions have been swift. UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy condemned the attack on Al-Ahli Hospital, describing it as “deplorable” and urging an end to such strikes.

Amidst the escalating violence, ceasefire negotiations are ongoing in Cairo, mediated by Egypt and Qatar. A proposed deal includes the release of hostages in exchange for a 45-day ceasefire and the lifting of aid blockades. However, disagreements persist, particularly regarding the disarmament of Hamas, which remains a contentious point in the discussions.

As the situation unfolds, the international community continues to call for restraint and a renewed commitment to peace to prevent further loss of life and humanitarian catastrophe in the region.
