Airline Worker Gets Sucked Into Engine

(Scypre.com) – A tragic incident occurred at San Antonio International Airport resulting in the death of an airport worker who was sucked into a Delta Air Lines jet engine. The authorities were alerted around 10:25 p.m. on Friday night, as reported by KENS5.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) issued a statement revealing that the plane, which had just arrived from Los Angeles, had only one engine running at the time of the accident.

The NTSB has been in communication with Delta, and they are currently in the process of gathering information related to the incident. Unifi Aviation, the company contracted by Delta and other airlines for ground handling operations, employed the worker. Delta assured its full cooperation with the investigations into the matter.

Expressing deep sadness, Unifi Aviation released a statement to KENS5, expressing condolences to the deceased worker’s family and emphasizing their commitment to supporting their ground employees during this difficult time.

The company stated that, based on their preliminary investigation, the incident was unrelated to their operational processes, safety procedures, and policies. Out of respect for the deceased, they refrained from sharing further details, leaving the task of providing additional information to the ongoing investigation carried out by the police and other officials.

The airport authorities also expressed their profound sadness regarding the incident and confirmed their collaboration with the authorities’ investigation.

This incident follows an earlier case involving Piedmont Airlines, a subsidiary of American Airlines, wherein the Occupational Safety and Health Administration imposed a fine of over $15,000.

The investigation concluded that the airline was responsible for the death of a Piedmont Airlines ground agent who was working at an airport in Alabama on New Year’s Eve.
