American Killed In Brutal Shark Attack

(Scypre.com) – A lady named Lauren Erickson Van Wart, who was 44 years old, got killed by a shark while paddleboarding in the Bahamas. She was a math editor at Curriculum Associates and had recently gotten married. The police in the Bahamas told everyone about this on Tuesday.

The CEO of her company, Rob Waldron, said, “Our team is really sad about losing a good friend. Lauren was great at her job, and she always wanted to help students and teachers. We’re all really sad, and we’re sending our love to her husband and family.”

The police in Nassau got a call at 11:15 a.m. about a lady who was attacked by a shark. They said she was paddleboarding with a family member close to an island called New Providence when it happened. A lifeguard saw what was going on, went out in a rescue boat, and brought them both back. They tried to help Lauren, but she was hurt too badly. Unfortunately, she didn’t make it, but her family member was okay.

A shark expert named Gavin Naylor said that in the last five years, there have been a couple of times when sharks hurt people in the Bahamas. He explained that there are a lot of tourists who want to see sharks, and this makes the sharks less careful.

He mentioned that around 30 to 40 types of sharks live there, and some, like the Caribbean reef shark, bull shark, tiger shark, and black tip shark, are more likely to bite.

“Most of the time, it’s a mistake. Sharks might think the person is something else,” he said. “But sometimes, they do it on purpose.”
