(Scypre.com) – The United States made a decision to let Iran receive money even though some people think it’s not a good idea. Iran is a country that has caused problems, and some of its friends are attacking U.S. soldiers. The U.S. government said it’s like giving Iran money, and some people are upset about it.
A person named Mike Waltz said, “It is absolutely outrageous the Biden Administration continues to find ways to send Iran money.” He thinks it’s not right, especially because some groups supported by Iran are targeting American forces.
The U.S. government allowed Iraq to pay Iran for electricity, and they put the money in a special account. A part of it is changed into euros or other types of money for Iran to buy things that are not banned, like aid for people who need help. The U.S. government says they have to approve how the money is spent.
A person from the government explained, “It’s not a free pass for all this money to move.” They said it’s a complicated process with risks, and they’ve been doing it for a while to help Iraq get energy from Iran.
Someone named Richard Goldberg said the U.S. allowed this because Iran promised not to make dangerous things with uranium. He also mentioned reports about Iran using the money to pay debts and maybe trade gas for oil.
People who don’t like this decision say the U.S. should stop Iran from getting any money. They worry that Iran’s friends might use the money to harm U.S. soldiers.
A senator named Steve Daines said, “This move by the administration is abhorrent and reprehensible.” He thinks giving Iran money is a bad idea because it might end up supporting groups that are enemies of the United States and Israel.
The Pentagon, which is in charge of the U.S. military, said there were many attacks on U.S. troops recently, and some soldiers got hurt. Also, an Iranian-supported group claimed they shot down a U.S. drone in Yemen.
A person from the U.S. government, Matthew Miller, said they don’t stop any country from getting food and medicine, including Iran. He mentioned that the U.S. has put more than 400 restrictions on Iran to make them stop doing things that cause problems.
