I’ve been waiting for this moment my whole life.”
At one point, she called out to a staffer named Patience for assistance. “I need Patience over here. Patience, where are you, girl?” Eventually, a staff member handed Cardi B a cell phone with her speech, allowing her to proceed with her address.
With her characteristic humor and charisma, Cardi B explained to the audience, “I took my time writing this speech, so I’m going to make sure I deliver it right.” As she continued, she struck a more serious tone, addressing issues that have been central to recent political debates.
During her remarks, Cardi B took aim at former President Donald Trump, who held a separate rally across town in Milwaukee at the same arena that hosted the Republican convention in July. Referring to recent comments by Trump promising to “protect women whether they like it or not,” Cardi B retorted, “Did you hear what Donny Trump said the other day?” Her words sparked cheers and laughter from the crowd as she added simply, “Donny, don’t. Please.”
