Costco Under Investigation for Choking Hazard

(Scypre.com) – A tragic incident occurred at a Costco store in Kennewick, Washington, resulting in the death of a 4-year-old girl from Washington state.

According to Benton County Coroner William Leach, emergency responders filed a report indicating that the girl had choked on a hot dog.

Upon witnessing the distressing situation, bystanders at the scene promptly offered their assistance by performing CPR and utilizing an automated external defibrillator (AED).

However, it remains uncertain whether anyone administered abdominal thrusts or took other measures to clear the blockage in the girl’s airway.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) promptly arrived to aid the girl and subsequently transported her to a nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, the girl unfortunately passed away.

As the choking incident was witnessed and EMS was involved, no autopsy was conducted on the girl.

Coroner Leach determined that the cause of her death was asphyxia resulting from choking, emphasizing the tragic consequences of the food obstruction.
