Famous Doctor and TV Host Missing On Vacation

(Scypre.com) – On the picturesque island of Symi in the eastern Aegean, a major search and rescue operation is currently underway for renowned British doctor and television presenter, Michael Mosley. The 67-year-old, who was vacationing on the island, went missing on Wednesday afternoon after reportedly embarking on a walk.

The extensive search, involving the coast guard, police, fire department, a helicopter, drones, and a police sniffer dog, has thus far yielded no trace of Mosley.The search operation has been focusing on the area between Agios Nikolaos, the coastal starting point of Mosley’s walk, and Symi’s main town. Greek authorities have also considered the possibility that he may have left the island, but no evidence has been found to support this theory.

The British Foreign Office has confirmed that they are in contact with Greek authorities regarding the ongoing search.Best known for his regular appearances on television and radio, as well as his column in the Daily Mail, Mosley is a prominent figure in the UK. Internationally, he is recognized for his 2013 book “The Fast Diet,” co-authored with journalist Mimi Spencer. The book introduced the “5:2 diet,” a revolutionary weight loss plan that involves minimizing calorie intake for two days a week while maintaining healthy eating habits on the remaining five days.

Mosley has since developed the Fast 800 diet, a rapid weight loss program, and has produced numerous films on diet and exercise.Known for pushing his body to the extreme in the name of scientific discovery, Mosley has even lived with tapeworms in his gut for six weeks as part of the BBC documentary “Infested! Living With Parasites.”The shocking news of Mosley’s disappearance has left his friends and colleagues in a state of distress. Roy Taylor, a professor of medicine and metabolism at Newcastle University who co-authored “The 8-Week Blood Sugar Diet” with Mosley, expressed his concern for Mosley’s family.

“Our thoughts are with them in this terrible time of uncertainty, hoping that he will be found safely,” Taylor said.In 2002, Mosley was nominated for an Emmy for his role as executive producer on the BBC science documentary “The Human Face,” which was presented by Monty Python star John Cleese and featured a star-studded cast including Elizabeth Hurley, Pierce Brosnan, and David Attenborough.Michael Mosley is married to Clare Bailey Mosley, a doctor, author, and health columnist.
