FBI Just Raided Homes Of 2 NYC Government Officials

(Scypre.com) – Federal agents with the FBI searched the homes of several top New York City officials, including First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright and Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Philip Banks III. These searches were conducted on Wednesday, though the specific reason for the raids has not been publicly disclosed.

Spokespersons for the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York both declined to offer further details about the nature of the searches or any potential charges.

City Hall’s lawyer, Lisa Zornberg, emphasized that investigators have not suggested that Mayor Eric Adams or his immediate staff are targets of this investigation. “Investigators have not indicated to us the mayor or his staff are targets of any investigation,” Zornberg said. She further noted that Adams, a former law enforcement officer, has consistently reiterated that his team must adhere to the law.

In the past several months, FBI agents have executed multiple searches involving officials connected to Mayor Adams as part of an ongoing investigation. This probe is reportedly focusing on possible illegal campaign contributions funneled through straw donors, allegedly linked to the Turkish government.

Despite these allegations, Mayor Adams has deflected questions about the investigation, maintaining that he has not been formally accused of any wrongdoing.

A City Hall source mentioned that this week’s search does not appear to be related to the Turkey investigation, though no official confirmation has been made.

Additionally, federal investigators are conducting a separate inquiry that involves several officials within the New York Police Department (NYPD). Sources familiar with this investigation revealed that the cell phones of multiple NYPD officials, some with connections to Police Commissioner Edward Caban’s office, have been seized. Like the other investigation, details remain sparse.

The NYPD is reportedly cooperating with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, but no further information has been provided to the public.
