(Scypre.com) – Doug Emhoff, the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, has denied the claims made in a recent Daily Mail report alleging that he slapped a former girlfriend during a 2012 trip to the Cannes Film Festival. The accusations, based on information from three unnamed sources, have not been independently verified by Fox News Digital.
A representative for Emhoff refuted the report in a statement to Semafor, saying, “This report is untrue. Any suggestion that he would or has ever hit a woman is false.”

The Daily Mail’s report centers on the claims of three anonymous individuals who allege that Emhoff slapped his then-girlfriend while they waited in a valet line in Nice, France. The woman, referred to as “Jane” and described as a successful New York attorney, allegedly flirted with a valet, sparking the altercation, according to the report.
Fox News stated that despite multiple requests, neither the Harris campaign, the Office of the Vice President, nor a representative for Emhoff’s ex-wife, Kerstin Emhoff, offered any comment. Other media outlets, including Semafor, reported that they were unable to corroborate the Daily Mail’s story, while major news organizations like The New York Times have not covered the claims.
According to the Daily Mail, their sources asked for anonymity due to fears of retaliation from Emhoff. They reportedly provided photos, travel itineraries, and correspondence to substantiate that Emhoff and Jane took the trip to France in May 2012. One source, described as a female New York attorney, recounted Jane’s version of the incident, claiming, “He hauled up and slapped her so hard she spun around.” The source added that Jane was in shock but retaliated by slapping Emhoff twice.
Another source, described as a New York businessman, claimed that Jane called him in tears following the incident. He said, “It was very clear what she was telling me. She said she was with a guy, her date, she was at the Cannes Film Festival, and he hit her.” He explained that Jane had been flirting with a valet, which allegedly provoked Emhoff’s reaction.
A third source, a female executive, learned about the incident in 2014 and was told more details in 2018, when Kamala Harris gained attention for her questioning of a Supreme Court nominee. “When he hit her, she hit him back, like, ‘Don’t you ever do that again,’” the executive said.
All three sources claim that after the alleged slap, Jane attempted to leave the valet area, but Emhoff got into a cab with her. The two reportedly dated for three months before the trip to France. Emhoff allegedly cut the trip short and returned to the U.S. for his daughter’s birthday, and the couple never reunited.
Emhoff’s first marriage to Kerstin Emhoff ended in 2008, and he married Kamala Harris in 2014. In a separate matter, Emhoff recently acknowledged an affair with his family’s nanny during his first marriage. This admission came after a Daily Mail report in August claimed that Emhoff had gotten the nanny pregnant.
In an interview with MSNBC’s Jen Psaki, Emhoff was praised for reshaping the perception of masculinity, to which he responded, “I’ve always been like this. My dad’s always been like this. To me, it’s the right thing to do, support women.” Emhoff stressed the importance of mutual support in his relationship with Harris and emphasized his advocacy for women’s rights.
This latest Daily Mail report emerges just weeks before the upcoming election, where Kamala Harris is expected to face off against former President Donald Trump.
