Hezbollah Supreme Leader Killed By Israel

(Scypre.com) – The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have confirmed that Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of the Hezbollah terrorist organization, was killed in an airstrike on Friday targeting the group’s headquarters in Beirut, Lebanon. The operation was part of Israel’s ongoing campaign against Hezbollah, an Iran-backed proxy that has long been engaged in hostilities with Israel.

The strike, carried out by Israeli Air Force jets, followed precise intelligence and was directed at an underground facility where Hezbollah’s senior leadership, including Nasrallah, were believed to be planning operations.

Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, Chief of the IDF General Staff, affirmed that the elimination of Nasrallah sent a clear message: “Anyone who threatens the citizens of Israel – we will know how to reach them.” The attack was part of a broader operation, with IDF forces hitting over 140 Hezbollah targets, including weapons facilities and missile launchers aimed at Israel.

Initial reports from Hezbollah attempted to downplay the event, with a spokesman claiming that Nasrallah was unharmed. However, by the next morning, Hezbollah officially confirmed his death, vowing to continue its fight against Israel in solidarity with Gaza and Palestine. The Lebanese health ministry also reported that at least two other people were killed, and dozens were wounded in the attacks.

Hezbollah’s loss of Nasrallah, a central figure in both the group’s leadership and its military strategy, is considered a significant blow. Analysts, including Rich Goldberg from the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, emphasized Nasrallah’s pivotal role in regional strategy, particularly following the death of Qassem Soleimani, the former Iranian commander of the Quds Force. Goldberg suggested that Nasrallah’s death would shift the balance of power, not only within Hezbollah but also in Lebanon, Syria, and Iran.

The IDF has indicated that their operations against Hezbollah are ongoing, with further strikes aimed at dismantling the group’s infrastructure. This marks a major escalation in the conflict, as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu returned early from the United Nations General Assembly in New York to oversee military operations. In his address to the UN, Netanyahu reaffirmed Israel’s right to defend itself, declaring, “As long as Hezbollah chooses the path of war, Israel has no choice but to remove this threat.”

U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin confirmed that the United States was not involved in Israel’s operation and had no prior knowledge of the strike. However, the action has broader implications for the region, potentially reshaping alliances and strategies as Iran, Hezbollah’s key backer, reassesses its position in the ongoing conflict.
