(Scypre.com) – In a recent interview with CBS’ “60 Minutes,” Vice President Kamala Harris delivered sharp criticism against Iran, naming it as the United States’ top adversary. When asked who she considers America’s greatest foreign threat, Harris pointed to Iran, stating, “Iran has American blood on their hands” and highlighted the need to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power as one of her top priorities. She refrained from commenting on whether she would consider military action if evidence of Iran pursuing nuclear weapons surfaced.
I can’t believe I’m saying this.

Harris’ comments sparked reactions from various political figures and analysts who questioned her assessment. Many pointed to China as the more pressing foreign adversary, with Mary Kissel, a former advisor to Mike Pompeo, tweeting her disbelief that Harris would prioritize Iran over China. Former Trump advisor Steve Cortes echoed these sentiments, calling Harris “clueless” for downplaying China’s threat. Sina Azodi, an Iranian nuclear researcher, also raised concerns, questioning why Harris identified Iran as the most significant threat instead of Russia or China.
Amid this controversy, Harris also defended U.S. military aid to Israel. She stressed that this aid was crucial in helping Israel defend itself against a barrage of 200 ballistic missiles, which she linked to Iran’s proxies, Hamas and Hezbollah. Harris emphasized the U.S. commitment to ensuring Israel’s security while holding out hope for a ceasefire and the eventual release of hostages.
Critics of Harris, including former Trump officials, argued that the Biden administration’s policy toward Iran has been counterproductive. Trump himself has blamed the Biden administration for easing sanctions on Iran, which he believes has enriched the regime and contributed to escalating tensions in the Middle East. He highlighted the September 2023 prisoner exchange deal that resulted in the release of $6 billion in Iranian assets, calling it a financial boon for Iran. Iran has since claimed it reached an agreement to access the funds.
Harris’ comments follow Iran’s recent missile attack on Tel Aviv, which was intercepted by Israeli and U.S. defenses. Iran’s proxies have long been active in the region, but this marked the first direct attack on Israel by the regime since April. Despite her harsh stance on Iran, Harris also criticized Trump for pulling out of the Iran nuclear deal in 2018, a move she said hindered diplomatic progress.
Iran’s nuclear program remains a contentious issue, with reports indicating the regime’s significant advances in uranium enrichment since Biden took office. Experts have pointed to Iran’s increased oil exports and nuclear activity as evidence of the regime’s growing strength under Biden’s more lenient sanctions policy.
While Harris has focused on preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear capabilities, critics within her own party and beyond argue that the U.S. should prioritize China and Russia as its main geopolitical threats. Trump and his allies continue to push for tougher action on Iran, with Trump even suggesting Israel should target Iran’s nuclear facilities.
