(Scypre.com) – This week, a tragic incident occurred at the Grand Canyon involving a man who lost his life while visiting the popular tourist attraction.
The unfortunate incident took place on the Grand Canyon’s “Skywalk,” a viewing platform that extends out over the chasm, providing visitors with a breathtaking view of the canyon’s depths.
According to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, the 33-year-old man fell from the edge of the Skywalk, plummeting a staggering distance of over 4,000 feet.
The incident was reported on Monday morning (6/5), prompting an immediate response from the technical rope rescue team of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue.
Efforts were made to rescue the individual, with the assistance of a helicopter, but sadly, upon reaching the scene, the rescue team confirmed that the man had already passed away.
The sheriff’s office stated that two rope specialists, accompanied by the Kingman DPS Ranger helicopter, assessed the situation and determined that the man was deceased.
They then proceeded to retrieve the body, transporting it to the Command Post before transferring it to the Hualapai Nation.
The circumstances surrounding the man’s tragic death are currently under investigation.
While it remains unclear whether it was an accidental fall or an intentional act of self-harm, authorities are diligently working to gather all relevant information pertaining to this heartbreaking incident.
