
(Scypre.com) – Authorities in Lake County, Indiana, have reported a tragic incident involving the loss of life and injury to two adolescents.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Department was alerted to an explosion in Lake of the Four Seasons on Saturday evening at approximately 6:30 p.m.
According to their investigation, a family was sorting through their grandfather’s possessions at a residence on Lakeshore Drive when they stumbled upon a live grenade.
Regrettably, one of the individuals pulled the pin, resulting in a devastating explosion.
Upon the arrival of the police, they discovered an unresponsive 47-year-old man identified as Bryan Niedert from Lake of Four Seasons, who succumbed to his injuries.
The man’s two children, an 18-year-old female and a 14-year-old male, sustained shrapnel wounds and were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Given the circumstances, the neighboring county of Porter deployed its bomb squad to the site to ensure the area’s safety and ascertain if any additional explosive devices were present within the residence.
