Man Who Killed 8 at Texas Mall Identified

(Scypre.com) – The man identified as the shooter in the Allen, Texas, outlet mall shooting received firearms training for part of his job as a security officer, according to an official database.


According to the Texas Online Private Security database, which is maintained by the Texas Department of Public Safety, he was approved to work as a commissioned security guard in Texas from April 2016 until April 2020 when his license expired.


He was employed by at least three security companies. None of the companies responded to the requests for comment.


According to the database, he received two levels of security training. According to the vice president of Ranger Guard, a security guard service in Texas not affiliated with Garcia’s employers, the former covers security laws in Texas and the latter is required for all commissioned security officers in Texas.


Six hours of continuing education is required for the firearms proficiency training course, which was completed in 2018.


According to the Texas Department of Public Safety website and state codes, private security guards in Texas are not allowed to work if they have committed certain crimes.


According to records, the suspect is a 33 year old man from Dallas, Texas named Mauricio Garcia.
The suspect’s age, address, and vehicle match the description given by law enforcement.


The Budget Suites of America is approximately 30 miles south of the Allen Premium Outlets shooting and appears to be the last known address of the suspect.


Multiple FBI agents reported to a home in the Northeast Patrol division of Dallas, with several Dallas Police officers standing outside. The home is where the suspected shooter lives with his parents, according to multiple sources.


FBI agents and police searched the suspect’s home on Sunday after neighbors said he has been living there for years.


If they’ve been discharged from the US military or found incompetent by a court of law, they’re disqualified. It’s not clear why his license expired.


The police officer who killed the man outside the mall was from Allen, Texas. At least eight people were killed and seven others were wounded in the shooting.
