(Scypre.com) – Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appear to be embarking on distinct career trajectories in the near future.
Prince Harry, who relinquished his senior royal duties in 2020, was recently seen leaving a gym in Santa Barbara. In the meantime, there are indications that Meghan is in the process of rebranding herself.
The division between their professional pursuits became more apparent when the talent agency WME announced that they were exclusively representing Meghan Markle. Additionally, the release of the “Heart of Invictus” trailer revealed Prince Harry as the sole executive producer, without Meghan’s involvement.
There’s a sense that Meghan might be advised to distance herself from Prince Harry and the royal drama in her professional life. However, it’s worth noting that Meghan was a working actor before her marriage to Harry, not a household name. Her fame grew significantly after their union, and Kinsey Schofield, from the “To Di for Daily” podcast, suggests that people may be more forgiving of Harry than Meghan in the long run.
Schofield opines that if Meghan continues to pursue the spotlight independently of Harry, public sentiment might shift in favor of Harry, especially given his increased dedication to charitable endeavors, exemplified by his involvement in projects like “Heart of Invictus.”
Meghan’s acting career includes a prominent role in “Suits,” a series she left in 2016 as her relationship with Harry flourished. Schofield believes that Prince Harry is returning to his royal roots, a move that could sway public opinion in his favor.
However, not everyone is certain about Meghan’s prospects in the entertainment industry. Doug Eldridge, a celebrity marketing and branding expert at Achilles PR, points out that success in Hollywood often hinges on factors beyond talent, citing the importance of “temperature” or popularity. Eldridge notes that Meghan’s recent media deals have not met expectations, and her last major roles date back several years.
Despite signing with talent agency WME, Meghan’s focus appears to be shifting away from acting, with a greater emphasis on content creation under the Archewell label, her venture with Prince Harry. Their recent projects, including the shelving of the animated series “Pearl” and the discontinuation of the “Archetypes” podcast, have raised questions about their entertainment ventures.
Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” was released in January, and a documentary titled “Harry & Meghan” that detailed their experiences with the royal family premiered on Netflix last year. Their multiyear production deal with Netflix encompasses documentaries, feature films, scripted shows, and children’s programming.
Moreover, the couple acquired the film rights to the romance novel “Meet Me at the Lake,” which shares themes with their own love story. Schofield emphasizes that Harry’s involvement often garners more attention and interest than Meghan’s individual endeavors.
The success of “Suits,” which contributed significantly to Meghan’s fame, is partly attributed to Netflix’s promotion of the series. Despite not being on the air for several years, the show broke streaming records upon its addition to Netflix and Peacock.
In hindsight, some, like Schofield, express the wish that the couple had focused more on philanthropic endeavors in their post-royal life instead of engaging in what seems like a quest for vengeance against the royal family. Such a different path might have led to a different public perception of their choices.
