(Scypre.com) – Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk is reportedly gearing up to invest approximately $45 million each month into a new pro-Trump super political action committee (PAC), according to a recent report by the Wall Street Journal. This initiative is aimed at supporting former President Donald Trump’s campaign for the presidency in the upcoming election.
Sources familiar with the situation have indicated that Musk intends to commence his contributions starting in July to the America PAC, an organization dedicated to bolstering Trump’s bid. However, an official filing by the group on Monday did not list Musk as a contributor, even as America PAC announced it had successfully raised over $8 million in total funds. Notable contributors include Lonsdale Enterprises, which donated $1 million, and the Winklevoss twins, who each contributed $250,000.
As the CEO of Tesla and the wealthiest person in the world, Musk’s involvement marks a significant endorsement for Trump’s campaign. Despite this, he did not respond to requests for comments from Reuters regarding his planned donations. Following the Wall Street Journal’s report, Musk shared a meme on social media platform X, referencing the report with the words “fake gnus,” a play on the term “fake news.”
This announcement comes shortly after Musk publicly endorsed Trump for the first time in the context of the U.S. presidential race. His endorsement came on a dramatic day when Trump was reportedly shot in the ear during a campaign rally, highlighting the intense atmosphere surrounding the election.
Musk’s financial commitment is seen as a clear pivot toward right-wing politics, providing Trump with a high-profile supporter as he seeks to reclaim the White House in the upcoming election set for November 5. In a further development, Trump has chosen Ohio U.S. Senator J.D. Vance as his running mate for the vice presidency, solidifying his campaign strategy ahead of the Republican Party’s official nomination of the former president.
The growing involvement of influential figures like Musk in political campaigns underscores the increasing interplay between business and politics, raising questions about the impact of such contributions on the electoral landscape. As the campaign progresses, the effects of Musk’s backing will likely play a crucial role in shaping the direction of Trump’s bid for re-election.
