Navy Says Submarine Likely Imploded Soon After Descent

(Scypre.com) – The U.S. Navy detected a potential implosion shortly after the Titan submersible descended into the ocean to explore the Titanic wreckage.

As the vessel lost communication with its mother ship, the Navy activated its secret acoustic detection system and identified sounds resembling either an explosion or an implosion near the location where the Titan was located.

While the data was not conclusive, the Navy shared the information with the Coast Guard, which continued its search efforts.

The U.S. Coast Guard later confirmed that the debris field discovered earlier in the day belonged to the missing Titan submersible.

Rear Admiral John Mauger expressed condolences to the families affected and stated that the debris indicated a catastrophic loss of the pressure chamber.

The incident occurred approximately one hour and 45 minutes into the dive on Sunday morning. The Titan was located around 900 miles east of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and approximately 400 miles southeast of St John’s in Newfoundland, Canada.

The submersible carried OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, British adventurer Hamish Harding, members of Pakistan’s Dawood family, and Titanic expert Paul-Henry Nargeolet, a former French navy officer.
