Oasis Is Getting Back Together After 15 Years

(Scypre.com) – Oasis, the iconic Britpop band behind timeless hits like “Wonderwall” and “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” is set to reunite for a highly anticipated tour across the British Isles next summer. This marks the end of a 15-year hiatus, and seemingly, the bitter feud between brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher that led to the band’s split in 2009.

The tour will feature 14 dates across Wales, England, Scotland, and Ireland in July and August of 2024. The announcement was made on Tuesday, with the band declaring, “This is it. This is happening.”

Oasis famously dissolved in 2009 following years of infighting, with Noel Gallagher officially departing the band just before a scheduled performance at a festival near Paris. The tension between the Gallagher brothers was notorious, with reports indicating they did not speak for years after the breakup. At the time of his departure, Noel expressed his frustration, stating, “People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”

Despite their differences, both brothers continued to perform Oasis songs during their solo careers, while also publicly criticizing each other. Notably, Noel once accused Liam of having a hangover that caused the cancellation of a 2009 concert, a claim that Liam disputed before eventually dropping a related lawsuit.

Now, however, the brothers are preparing to reunite on stage, promising fans “the spark and intensity” that only comes when they perform together. Tickets for the tour go on sale at 9 a.m. Saturday, with a presale starting on Friday. Fans registering for the presale ballot were required to name the band’s original drummer.

The tour kicks off with two dates on July 4 and 5 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. Oasis will also perform at Manchester’s Heaton Park on July 11, 12, 19, and 20; London’s Wembley Stadium on July 25, 26, August 2, and 3; Edinburgh’s Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium on August 8 and 9; and Croke Park in Dublin on August 16 and 17. There are also plans for Oasis to perform in “other continents outside of Europe later next year,” according to the official tour announcement. However, representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comments on future locations or how they plan to manage the anticipated high demand for tickets.

In the tour announcement, Oasis made a poignant reference to their tumultuous past, stating, “The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”

The Gallagher brothers’ troubled relationship has been well-documented over the years. In 2011, Noel described an incident that contributed to his decision to leave the band, where Liam allegedly wielded a guitar “like an axe” and nearly struck him. Despite the years of estrangement, Liam expressed a desire to reconcile in a 2019 interview, stating, “The most important thing is about me and him being brothers.” He dismissed claims that he wanted to reunite the band for financial reasons, saying, “I joined the band to have fun and to see the world.”

Speculation about a potential reunion had been building for some time. Fans began buzzing when a short video featuring the date “27.08.24” and the time “8 a.m.” appeared on Oasis’ social media accounts, as well as on the individual accounts of the Gallagher brothers. This past weekend, rumors intensified when Liam Gallagher hinted at the reunion on social media, particularly responding to reports of Oasis playing at Wembley Stadium and Heaton Park.

In addition to the reunion tour, Oasis is also set to release a new collection titled “Definitely Maybe – Deluxe 30th Anniversary Editions,” in celebration of the 30th anniversary of their debut album.

While Liam was vocal on social media, teasing the reunion and responding to fans, Noel remained largely silent, only posting the teaser. The announcement of the tour has brought an end to the long speculation, and fans are now eagerly anticipating what is sure to be one of the most significant musical events of the decade.
