(Scypre.com) – House Republicans are planning to meet secretly to talk about whether to have a vote about investigating President Biden. They want the whole House to vote on looking into Biden’s actions.
The meeting on Friday will have leaders from three committees that are already looking into Biden — James Comer, Jim Jordan, and Jason Smith. They will try to convince other Republicans in the House to support an investigation.
Kevin McCarthy, a former Speaker, said the House should start investigating Biden in September, but the White House doesn’t think it’s fair without a formal vote. Republicans hope that if the whole House votes on it, it will be harder for Biden to ignore their requests for information.
Some Republicans think there’s enough reason to investigate Biden. Carlos Gimenez from Florida said, “There’s plenty of smoke coming out of the White House which justifies an impeachment inquiry.” Another Republican, Don Bacon, wants the inquiry to force the administration to share information.
They would vote to show that House Republicans support looking into Biden, but it wouldn’t actually impeach the president. Some Republicans think there’s enough support for this vote to pass, but others say it’s still being discussed.
Republicans accuse Biden and his family of making money unfairly, saying they found over $10 million from other countries going to them. Biden denies any wrongdoing, and the White House calls the inquiry a distraction and baseless.
A White House spokesman, Ian Sams, said, “House Republicans have already proven this is an illegitimate exercise not rooted in facts and the truth but only in a political desire to smear the President with lies, and the American people see right through it.”
