(Scypre.com) – A flight en route to the Canary Islands from London, United Kingdom, encountered an unexpected diversion on Friday, marked by an altercation involving eight individuals that resulted in a disruptive and chaotic episode.
According to data from FlightAware.com, Ryanair flight 3511 departed from London Luton slightly before 8:15 a.m. for its routine four-hour journey to Arrecife, Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands. However, tracking data revealed an unforeseen deviation, as the flight was redirected to Faro, Portugal, touching down approximately 55 minutes earlier than its scheduled arrival in Arrecife.
The Daily Mail UK reported that the disturbance began when a group of men, seemingly under the influence of alcohol, began bothering some female passengers. The situation escalated when a flight attendant attempted to intervene and was knocked over. In response to the escalating disorder, the captain addressed the passengers, unequivocally stating that such behavior would not be tolerated. Despite the captain’s warning, the disruptive incident persisted, prompting the decision to land the flight.
The Portugal Resident provided additional details, reporting that the Public Security Police (PSP) in Portugal responded to a call regarding “eight disorderly passengers” on the flight. Upon arrival, the officers observed passengers causing a disturbance, which included shouting, repeatedly hitting cabin luggage lockers, and disregarding instructions from the flight crew while consuming alcoholic beverages.
The disorderly group was instructed to leave the plane, with seven individuals complying with the authorities. However, one passenger adamantly resisted, leading to his arrest by the police. The resistance resulted in charges of crimes of disobedience and resisting.
Following the resolution of the chaotic situation, the flight resumed its journey. It departed from Faro at approximately 11:50 a.m., eventually landing in Arrecife at 1:24 p.m., marking the conclusion of an incident-filled journey that required intervention and law enforcement action to restore order and ensure the safety of all passengers and crew members on board.
