(Scypre.com) – Four individuals lost their lives and multiple others were injured when at least one gunman opened fire at a Birmingham, Alabama nightclub during a birthday celebration. The shooting occurred shortly before midnight at a venue located on 27th Street North, prompting an immediate response from local law enforcement.
According to Birmingham police spokesman Truman Fitzgerald, officers received reports of the shooting around 11:08 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered one man fatally shot on the sidewalk outside the club. Inside the venue, two women were found dead, and another man succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a local hospital.
In total, ten other individuals were shot and required medical attention. Some were rushed to UAB Hospital by the Birmingham Fire Department, while others arrived via private vehicles, highlighting the chaotic nature of the scene.
Investigators revealed that the shooting was initiated when at least one suspect drove by the nightclub and discharged shots into the establishment from the street. Authorities are currently probing whether the incident stemmed from an altercation that took place inside the club.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and police are actively seeking information from the public to assist in the investigation.
The victims of this tragic event have been identified as Lerandus Anderson, 24; Stevie McGhee, 39; Markeisha Gettings, 42; and Angela Weatherspoon, 56. According to police, McGhee was found deceased outside the nightclub, while Gettings and Weatherspoon were killed inside. Anderson was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
