
(Scypre.com) – According to local reports, a tragic incident occurred in the Kingsessing section of Southwest Philadelphia on Monday evening, resulting in the deaths of at least four individuals and injuries to four others. Philadelphia has confirmed that a suspect is now in custody.
While the conditions of the injured juveniles have not been immediately disclosed, authorities received reports of an armed male suspect in the vicinity of South 56th Street and Chester Avenue at approximately 8:30 p.m. Prompt action led to the arrest of the suspect, who was reportedly wearing a ballistic vest, just ten minutes later.
Philadelphia police have provided further details on the shooting, stating that four people were killed and two others were wounded. The incident occurred in the Kingsessing neighborhood around 8:30 p.m., as reported by CBS Philadelphia.
Philadelphia Police Department Commissioner Danielle Outlaw confirmed that a 2-year-old and a 13-year-old sustained injuries but were in stable condition.
The ages of the victims who lost their lives were 20, 22, 59, and an unidentified individual estimated to be between 16 and 21 years old, according to Outlaw. All the victims were male.
The suspect, described as a 40-year-old male, was apprehended wearing a bulletproof vest and carrying an AR-style rifle, a handgun, and a police scanner. Outlaw stated that the suspect was taken into custody without resistance after being pursued by officers who cornered him in an alley while he was still firing shots.
Additionally, another person who engaged in gunfire with the suspect was also arrested. Outlaw expressed bewilderment regarding the motive behind the incident, stating that there was currently no information regarding any connections between the victims and the shooter. \She emphasized that the individual made a conscious decision to leave their residence and target innocent individuals.
