Sydney Sweeney Finally Addresses Dating Rumors

(Scypre.com) – Sydney Sweeney is well aware of the people’s desires!

As Sydney Sweeney, who is 25 years old, graced the cover of Variety’s most recent edition focused on the Power of Young Hollywood, she engaged in discussions about the speculations surrounding her and her co-star Glen Powell. The rumors suggested that the two, while filming the upcoming romantic comedy “Anyone But You” in Australia during the spring, had kindled a romantic relationship off-screen.

During an interview conducted prior to the Hollywood actors’ strike in July, Sweeney addressed the matter, emphasizing, “It’s a rom-com. That’s what people want! Glen and I don’t really care. We have so much fun together, and we respect each other so much; he’s such a hard worker, and I’m a hard worker.”

Speaking about their interactions, she mentioned, “We’re excited for the press tour, and I literally just left ADR with him,” referring to Powell, who is 34. “We talk all the time like, ‘That’s really funny.’”

Regarding the enthusiastic response from fans to the rumors surrounding their on-set relationship, Sweeney added to Variety, “They want it. It’s fun to give it to ’em.”

Throughout the filming of “Anyone But You,” in which she also holds the role of an executive producer, Sweeney and Powell shared moments together, some of which she posted on her Instagram. They also appeared together at CinemaCon 2023 in Las Vegas in April, presenting footage from the movie. During this event, she playfully admitted that she initially mistook Powell for his “Top Gun: Maverick” co-star Miles Teller “until the fourth day of shooting.”

Fueling the speculation of a real-life romance was Powell’s breakup with Gigi Paris in April. However, a source clarified that their relationship had been strained since the release of “Top Gun,” mainly due to the geographical challenges posed by Powell’s filming commitments.

It’s worth noting that Sweeney herself is engaged to Jonathan Davino. She has been open about her preference for not dating individuals in the public eye or the entertainment industry.

Director Will Gluck, who worked with Sweeney on “Anyone But You,” praised her ability to handle the rumors and attention adeptly. He said, “Sydney is brilliant at a lot of things, including how to deal with social media; she didn’t emotionally internalize it. It was crazy, but after a while it became normal.”

Back in May, Sweeney shared that filming “Anyone But You” was a joyous experience filled with constant laughter. She expressed her excitement for the film’s release and highlighted the fun atmosphere on set.

Sweeney and Powell shared with the audience at CinemaCon that the heart of the movie revolves around “two people that hate each other.” Alongside Sweeney and Powell, the film features a cast including Dermot Mulroney, Rachel Griffiths, Alexandra Shipp, Michelle Hurd, Bryan Brown, Darren Barnet, and Hadley Robinson.

“Anyone But You” is scheduled for release in theaters on December 15th.
