(Scypre.com) – Two individuals have been apprehended following the emergence of a viral video depicting a chaotic altercation that transpired at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago.
The footage, which gained traction on Twitter, showcased a group of at least six men and women engaging in a physical altercation near the baggage claim area of one of the airport’s terminals.
The Chicago Police Department released a statement explaining that the confrontation originated as a verbal dispute during the deplaning process. The situation escalated on the lower level of terminal 3 when a 24-year-old woman was punched by two assailants.
Within the video, two women can be seen entangled on the ground, gripping each other’s hair. After separating, one of the women is suddenly attacked from behind by another female wielding an unidentified object.
In response, a man swiftly intervenes, forcefully pushing the female attacker to the ground. Amidst the chaos, a bystander can be heard exclaiming, “Hey, hey, bro!” while another man seemingly attempts to strike the woman’s head.
The specific cause behind the violent altercation remains unknown at present. Throughout the video, concerned bystanders can be heard questioning the absence of security measures and urging the individuals to cease their actions.
Subsequently, the authorities have arrested two individuals connected to the incident: Christopher Hampton, an 18-year-old from Maywood, Illinois, and Tembra Hicks, a 20-year-old from Carol Stream, Illinois. Both individuals are now facing misdemeanor charges of battery.
The airport operator, responsible for managing the Chicago Department of Aviation, emphasized that safety and security are of paramount importance.
They reaffirmed their collaboration with federal partners stationed at O’Hare and Midway International Airports, as well as the Chicago Police Department, to ensure the well-being of all individuals within their facilities.
In a separate incident earlier in the month, police documents reported that a woman, who claimed to be pregnant, allegedly assaulted a Spirit Airlines employee at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
This occurrence unfolded after airline personnel denied her access to boarding gate D2 due to intoxication. Identified as Que Maria Scott, a 29-year-old, she now faces charges of disorderly conduct in connection with the brawl. Witnesses recalled her mentioning being from “West Philly” and threatening to physically harm the victim.
A video shared on Twitter captures the moment when the woman punches and tackles another individual into a barrier, while onlookers implore them to stop. The recording concludes with two men attempting to separate them, but according to the police report, it took four bystanders to successfully intervene.
