(Scypre.com) – Bruce Springsteen has made the difficult decision to cancel the remaining shows of his 2023 tour due to his ongoing battle with peptic ulcer disease.
In an official statement shared via his Instagram account, it was conveyed, “Bruce Springsteen has been steadily recovering from peptic ulcer disease over the past few weeks and will continue his treatment throughout the year as advised by his medical team.”
The announcement further detailed, “With utmost caution and consideration for Bruce’s health, all remaining tour dates for Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band in 2023 will be postponed until 2024.”
Bruce Springsteen himself shared his sentiments, stating, “Thanks to all my friends and fans for your good wishes, encouragement, and support. I’m on the mend and can’t wait to see you all next year.” The updated statement assured fans that rescheduled dates will be unveiled in the upcoming week, assuring that postponed tickets will remain valid and refunds will be available for those unable to attend.
The acclaimed “Born to Run” singer-songwriter commenced his tour on February 1 of this year, marking his first major tour in six years. Unfortunately, he faced health challenges along the way.
Starting the tour in Tampa, Florida, Springsteen encountered setbacks, necessitating show postponements in March. In April, both he and his wife contracted COVID-19 during a break between the U.S. and Europe tour legs.
In August, Springsteen unexpectedly called off two concerts due to an undisclosed ailment just hours before he was scheduled to perform. Fellow E Street Band member Steven Van Zandt offered reassurance, stating, “No need to be anxious or afraid. Nothing serious. Just a temporary situation. We will all be back in full force very soon.”
A month later, the “Dancing in the Dark” artist announced via social media that all September dates would be postponed due to peptic ulcer disease, a condition where ulcers develop in the stomach or small intestine, often accompanied by stomach pain, according to the Mayo Clinic.
Expressing his regret to fans, Springsteen shared on Instagram, “Thank you for your understanding and support. We’ve been having a blast at our US shows and we’re looking forward to more great times. We’ll be back soon. Love and God bless all, Bruce.”
