(Scypre.com) – Conor McGregor, a former UFC champion, criticized the Prime Minister of Ireland, Leo Varadkar, for downplaying the kidnapping and release of a 9-year-old Irish-Israeli child by Hamas terrorists.
McGregor called Varadkar a disgrace for using the terms “lost” and “found” to describe the abduction and release of Emily Hand.
In a message on social media, McGregor expressed his frustration, saying, “She was abducted by an evil terrorist organization. What is with you and your government and your paid-for media affiliates constantly downplaying horrific acts that happen to children? You are a disgrace.”
The incident involved Emily Hand, who was kidnapped by Hamas terrorists along with her friend Hila and Hila’s mother from their house in southern Israel on October 7.
Varadkar’s social media post after Emily’s reunion with her father used terms like “lost” and “found,” which McGregor found inappropriate.
Varadkar’s post read, “This is a day of enormous joy and relief for Emily Hand and her family. An innocent child who was lost has now been found and returned, and we breathe a massive sigh of relief. Our prayers have been answered.”
However, McGregor criticized this statement, and additional context was added by X, pointing out that Emily Hand was kidnapped by Hamas terrorists, and the term “lost” didn’t highlight the fact that she was released as part of a hostage deal.
Hamas captured around 240 civilians from Israel and took them to Gaza as captives. McGregor’s criticism of Varadkar follows his recent condemnation of Irish leaders for their handling of a stabbing incident in Dublin that left three children injured.
