(Scypre.com) – In the early hours of a Wednesday morning, an unsettling incident transpired outside the residence hall of an Ohio State University student.
According to school officials, a sedan, densely occupied, arrived on the scene, and two individuals promptly disembarked, brandishing firearms with the intent to rob the student. This alarming event unfolded shortly after midnight on West 10th Avenue, as reported by authorities.
The vehicle in question was described as a four-door sedan, displaying hues of silver, gray, or white. Following their criminal act, the culprits hastily fled in an eastward direction, distancing themselves from the university campus.
While limited information is available about the suspects, it is speculated that they may fall within the age range of teenagers to early 20s. Individuals possessing any pertinent information regarding this case are strongly encouraged to contact campus police at 614-292-2121.
In light of this audacious robbery, students are urged to exercise caution as they commence the fall semester of 2023.
This incident follows closely on the heels of a brutal assault near another prominent Big Ten institution, the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Paul Mauro, a former NYPD inspector who had previously raised concerns about campus crime, remarked, “This continues to be something of an ignored epidemic,” particularly in schools located in or around urban areas facing deteriorating conditions.
In a separate incident, Madison police disclosed that a student had been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries following an attack at 3 a.m. on a Sunday.
They have indicated progress in their investigative efforts and intend to provide an update at 4 p.m. CT. According to a friend of the victim, she was discovered with a fractured jaw and had endured a harrowing ordeal involving strangulation, physical assault, and sexual abuse.
An anonymous neighbor recounted that the victim had been forcibly abducted from the sidewalk and forcibly moved between two residences. Authorities implore anyone with pertinent information regarding this attack to contact Madison police at 608-255-2345.
Furthermore, they request individuals with security cameras in the vicinity of the West Wilson and South Bedford streets intersection to share any footage captured between 2 and 4 a.m. on that fateful Sunday.
In light of these distressing incidents, law enforcement agencies are emphasizing the importance of avoiding solitary walks, especially during nighttime hours, and remaining vigilant of one’s surroundings for the safety of all residents in the area.
