(Scypre.com) – Iranian-backed militants from Hamas launched an assault on southern Israel, firing rockets from the Gaza Strip that resulted in the deaths of over 100 Israelis. The Hamas Islamist group claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Israeli military confirmed that armed individuals infiltrated Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip, prompting warnings for residents in the vicinity to stay in their homes. Israel pledged to defend its citizens, promising consequences for Hamas.
The U.S. National Security Council strongly condemned the unprovoked attacks and expressed solidarity with Israel, as did several European leaders. Germany and France denounced the violence and expressed support for Israel’s right to defend itself.
The conflict escalated with IDF fighter jets striking multiple Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip. Israel’s Minister of Defense announced a special security situation within a specific radius from the Gaza Strip to ensure the safety of civilians.
