(Scypre.com) – John Stamos has a complex relationship with his role on “Full House,” which he openly discussed on the latest episode of “Hot Ones.” Initially, he had mixed feelings about the show after an early table read and even wanted his agents to get him out of it.
The actor revealed that he was pitched “Full House” as something akin to “Bosom Buddies,” an ’80s sitcom starring Tom Hanks, with a couple of kids in the background.
However, during the casting process, he noticed that a significant amount of attention was given to finding the right child actors for the background roles.
At the initial table read, things took an unexpected turn. Stamos, fresh off his success on “General Hospital,” realized that he was the star, but the young actress, Jodie Sweetin, who portrayed Stephanie, stole the show with her comedic delivery, leaving everyone in stitches.
This left Stamos feeling overshadowed and disheartened, prompting him to contemplate leaving the show.
He even vividly recalled running out of the room during a break, desperate to call his agents to get him off the show.
However, as time went on, he had a change of heart and grew to love “Full House” for what it represented—a loving and unconventional family, with the central theme being love itself.
In a previous incident, Stamos had also recounted a challenging day of filming with the Olsen twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley, who played Michelle on the show.
When they were just 11 months old, they were continuously crying during a scene that required a diaper change. Stamos, unable to cope with the situation, asked for them to be replaced.
However, the new replacements didn’t work out, and ultimately the Olsens were brought back to continue their roles.
Despite the ups and downs, “Full House” played a significant role in Stamos’s career, and he eventually came to appreciate the show’s heartwarming portrayal of an unconventional family.
