(Scypre.com) – Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Meta Platforms, has expressed his willingness to engage in a MMA match with Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX and owner of Twitter.
Zuckerberg conveyed his eagerness on Threads, stating, “I’ve been prepared to step into this competition ever since Elon issued the challenge. Once we agree on a specific date, you’ll hear the confirmation from me. Until then, it’s best to consider any statements he makes as unofficial.”
Zuckerberg continued, “I’m not holding my breath for Elon’s response, but I will divulge the particulars of my upcoming bout when I’m prepared. When I do compete, I want to ensure that the spotlight is on the exceptional athletes who dominate the field. Achieving this involves collaborating with professional organizations like the UFC or ONE to ensure a successful and engaging event.”
A short time ago, the Facebook founder had already expressed his readiness and had even proposed a date for the match.
He wrote, “I’m all set to go today. I recommended August 26th in response to his initial challenge, yet he hasn’t confirmed anything. I’m not getting my hopes up. My passion for this sport persists, and I’ll continue to engage with individuals committed to training, regardless of the outcome here.” Musk had initially challenged Zuckerberg in late June, saying, “I’m open to a cage match if he’s up for it lol.”
Recently, the billionaire used X (formerly known as Twitter and still accessible at twitter.com) to provide additional details about the proposed match. He explained, “The fight will be organized by both my foundation and Zuck’s foundation (not UFC).
The livestream will be available on this platform and Meta. The setting will resemble ancient Rome, with no modern elements in the camera frame. I’ve already discussed this with Italy’s Prime Minister and Minister of Culture, who have agreed to a remarkable venue.” Italy’s Culture Minister, Gennaro Sangiuliano, affirmed that he had conversations with Musk regarding hosting a charitable and historically significant event.
Musk emphasized that all the proceeds from the contest would be directed towards supporting veterans and pediatric hospitals in the country. He also assured users of X that subscribers to Twitter Blue would receive additional content.
In a previous statement, Musk had indicated that the fight’s date was uncertain due to an upcoming MRI and potential surgery. He clarified, “I’m scheduled to undergo an MRI for my neck and upper back tomorrow. There might be a need for surgery before the fight can proceed. I’ll have more information by the end of this week.”
Detailing his health situation, the co-founder of Tesla stated, “I spent three hours inside an MRI machine on Monday. The key takeaway is that the fusion of my C5/C6 vertebrae is stable, so that’s not a concern. However, there’s an issue with my right shoulder blade rubbing against my ribs, necessitating minor surgery. The recovery period will be relatively short, spanning just a few months,” Musk revealed on Friday.
