(Scypre.com) – A recent development in the shooting incident resulting in the tragic death of Los Angeles Sheriff’s Deputy Ryan Clinkunbroomer has been disclosed by reliable sources close to the investigation, as revealed by Fox News on Monday.
According to these sources, a tip received on Sunday led to the identification of a suspect. The Special Enforcement Bureau tactical team of the sheriff’s department proceeded to a residence in Palmdale, the location of the shooting, and engaged with a relative of the suspect, who provided intricate information about the case.
Following this, law enforcement peacefully apprehended the male suspect present at the residence, deploying gas as a precautionary measure.
Deputy Clinkunbroomer was fatally shot on Saturday, September 16, while stationed in his patrol vehicle at an intersection in Palmdale. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries thereafter, as confirmed by authorities. A reward of $250,000 for significant information leading to an arrest in this case was announced by the police last night. A press conference by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. local time.
In efforts to aid the investigation, authorities had previously released images of a vehicle, likely a Toyota Corolla produced between 2006 and 2012, connected to the lethal assault.
Sheriff Robert Luna emphasized the importance of community cooperation during a news conference on Saturday night, urging assistance in bringing the perpetrator or perpetrators to justice. He emphasized the need to apprehend the individual(s) responsible for ambushing and killing a deputy, highlighting the urgency of removing this threat from the streets.
Surveillance footage, known to homicide investigators, captured the events leading up to the shooting of Clinkunbroomer. The video, obtained by FOX 11 Los Angeles, shows a black car pulling up beside a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department cruiser at a red light. Although the shots being fired are not visible, the black vehicle departs while the sheriff’s cruiser moves forward and eventually comes to a stop.
A concerned citizen noticed the deputy slumped in his cruiser outside the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station in Palmdale and promptly informed other deputies at the station.
Following the incident, Clinkunbroomer was initially transported to the hospital in his cruiser, with an ambulance intercepting them en route, according to FOX 11.
Later, Clinkunbroomer was transferred to an ambulance, and another deputy transported his cruiser to a medical center in Lancaster. Clinkunbroomer, an eight-year veteran of LASD, had served the Palmdale and Antelope Valley communities with utmost dedication, according to Sheriff Luna.
Deputy Clinkunbroomer hailed from a family deeply rooted in law enforcement, with both his father and grandfather being affiliated with the sheriff’s department. Sheriff Luna expressed the immense sacrifice made by Clinkunbroomer in serving the community and mourned the senseless loss of a dedicated deputy.
