(Scypre.com) – Tom Cruise brought a touch of Hollywood glamour to Paris during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The “Mission: Impossible” star made a grand entrance by descending from the top of the Stade de France after H.E.R. performed “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
As the cameras captured his descent, Cruise gracefully flew through the sky and landed among the athletes who competed in the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad.
Once on the ground, Cruise walked through the crowd of competitors, where he was greeted by Simone Biles and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. Together, they handed Cruise the flag, symbolizing the official hand-off from Paris to Los Angeles, which will host the 2028 Olympics. Cruise shared his excitement on social media, posting on X, “Thank you, Paris! Now off to LA.”
The ceremony continued with a pre-recorded clip showing Cruise riding through Paris before boarding a plane and heading to Los Angeles. In a dramatic finale, Cruise appeared on top of the Hollywood sign, now reconfigured to display the Olympic rings. Cruise, known for performing his own stunts, filmed part of this sequence in March, when he was spotted shirtless atop the iconic landmark.
Cruise’s reputation for pushing the limits was cemented during the production of “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” in 2017 when he broke his ankle performing a stunt. Despite the injury, he continued filming, showcasing his commitment to his craft.
After Cruise’s Hollywood moment, the Olympic athletes toured Los Angeles, and the flag was finally brought to a Southern California beach. There, Los Angeles locals, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, performed, followed by a performance by Highland Park-native Billie Eilish, who sang atop a lifeguard tower. The celebration continued with a performance by Olympic breakout star, Snoop Dogg, alongside legendary hip-hop icon Dr. Dre, as they officially welcomed the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Snoop Dogg, who had been a prominent figure throughout the games, even carrying the torch during the opening ceremony, reflected on his unique role. “When the lights are on, that’s when I shine the best,” he told the Associated Press. He added, “This opportunity was nothing but a chance for me to show the world what it’s supposed to look like when you put the right person in the right environment. But remember, I’m a rapper. So, ain’t no rapper ever did what I’m doing. It’s limitations to the field that I come from. Rappers aren’t supposed to do this. I tend to do the unthinkable.”
