US Missile Submarine Sent To Middle East

(Scypre.com) – In a significant military maneuver, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has ordered the deployment of a guided-missile submarine to the Middle East and expedited the arrival of a carrier strike group to the region. This move comes in response to the anticipated threat of an Iranian attack against Israel, as announced by the Pentagon on Sunday evening.

The submarine, USS Georgia, a nuclear-powered vessel equipped with cruise missiles, was recently operating in the Mediterranean Sea, following training exercises near Italy, according to the U.S. Navy. Austin has now directed the submarine to move into the Middle Eastern waters, a decision rarely disclosed to the public, highlighting the high level of secrecy surrounding the operations of nuclear-powered submarines.

This announcement serves as a stern warning to Iran and its allies, signaling the U.S. and Israel’s readiness to counter any aggressive actions. The anticipated Iranian assault is believed to be in retaliation for Israel’s recent military actions, including the killing of Hezbollah’s top military commander in Lebanon and the alleged assassination of Hamas’ political leader in Tehran, a claim that Israel has not officially acknowledged.

On Sunday evening, the Israel Defense Forces reported that approximately 30 rockets were launched from Lebanon. Although some of these rockets landed in open areas without causing any injuries, Hezbollah stated that the attack was in support of the Palestinian people in Gaza and was a response to Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon.

Secretary Austin’s decisions were detailed in a readout following a conversation with his Israeli counterpart, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. The two discussed strategies to deter aggression from Iran, Hezbollah, and other Iran-aligned groups in the region.

In addition to the submarine deployment, Austin has ordered the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group to accelerate its journey to the Middle East. Initially directed to the region on August 2, the Lincoln strike group made stops in Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands during its transit. The group includes the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, which operates with stealth F-35C fighter jets, along with several accompanying destroyers.

This enhanced U.S. military presence in the Middle East is further bolstered by the USS Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike group, which has been active in the region for several weeks. Additionally, the USS Wasp amphibious ready group, which includes a contingent of Marines trained for special operations, is currently operating in the Mediterranean Sea.
