Airliner Drops Huge Cargo on House

(Scypre.com) – Confirmation from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) revealed that an emergency evacuation slide from a United Airlines flight fell into the backyard of a suburban home near Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.

The aircraft involved was a United Airlines Boeing 767-300, known as UAL Flight 12, which had safely landed at O’Hare after a journey from Zurich, Switzerland. During maintenance checks, it was discovered that the emergency slide was missing from the plane’s side.

The flight, lasting 9 hours and 22 minutes, was in the process of landing when the incident occurred, and the evacuation slide dropped into the backyard of Laura and Patrick Devitt’s residence in suburban Chicago. Fortunately, there were no injuries among the 155 customers and 10 crew members on board.

Upon hearing a loud boom at 12:15 p.m., Patrick Devitt’s son and father-in-law investigated the source of the noise and found the deflated emergency slide in their backyard. Unfortunately, the slide had caused some damage to the family’s home, affecting the roof, downspout, and a window screen.

Describing the size of the emergency slide, Patrick Devitt mentioned that it was larger than a small car, making it quite a significant piece of equipment.

The family promptly reported the unusual discovery to the Chicago Police Department, and authorities, along with FAA investigators, arrived at the scene on North Chester Avenue (specifically the 4700 block). The FAA has launched an investigation into the incident.

United Airlines, upon being informed about the missing slide, immediately contacted the FAA and is cooperating with the federal administration to gain a better understanding of the circumstances surrounding the matter.
