(Scypre.com) – During the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, some people who support Palestine caused a disturbance. They were shouting and singing things like “Palestine will be free” and even glued themselves to the street to stop the parade.
One group of protesters in midtown Manhattan had a big banner that said, “Liberation for Palestine and Planet.” They wanted to stop using fossil fuels and also support the people in Gaza. These protesters put on white jumpsuits, poured red liquid on themselves, and glued their hands to the street to try to stop the parade. The people watching the parade didn’t like it and booed them.
The police had to come and take these protesters away so the parade could keep going.
On another part of the parade route, there were more protesters with Palestinian flags and signs. They were singing different chants like “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” and “There is only one solution, intifada revolution.” Some were asking for a stop to the fighting between Israel and Hamas.
During the parade on TV, someone on a Native American float took out a Palestinian flag. This float was from the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, and the people announcing the parade said it represents a promise for the future based on our shared heritage.
Protests supporting Palestine have been happening in many U.S. cities and on college campuses. People want the fighting between Israel and Hamas to stop.
Last week, in New York City, protesters blocked the main train station, and in San Francisco and Boston, they stopped traffic on bridges during rush hour.
After a surprise attack by Hamas, Israel said they would wipe out Hamas. This attack led to many deaths and people being taken captive. In Gaza, over 11,000 people have died since the war started, according to the Health Ministry there.
